  NURSERY

“UOI - My name is important”

In this unit, Nursery children learned more about themselves in a fun way. With their parents´ support they investigated the origin and meaning of their names as well as discovering that they have the right to have their own proper name. In addition, the children learned more about personal identification cards creating their own DNI in class!! Another interesting activity they took part in was naming their favourite doll and completing an information chart with its personal information. They left their fingerprints on the document and registered it. Many parents came to participate in the presentations of their names.

  PRE KINDER

MAPFRE visit

During our second Unit of Inquiry, the children had the opportunity to receive a visit from MAPFRE. After they securely buckled their seatbelts, the children enjoyed a short video about road safety and the importance of following traffic regulations. They were then led to a traffic circuit, where a police officer was waiting to direct all of the Pre Kinder traffic. The children were able to identify all of the traffic signs and rules that they had learned this term. While playing the part of pedestrians, our Pre Kinder pupils had the opportunity to apply all of their knowledge in order to complete the course.

Survey says!

The Children in Pre Kinder took part in surveying their classmates and family members during their unit of inquiry “On the Move”. The children collected information about means of transport including: "How do you like to travel?" "Have you ever been in a car accident?" and "How do you get to and from school everyday?". Once they had collected their information, they transferred the data to a bar graph and a pie chart. The children were interested to see, share and compare their findings. They later presented their work to their classmates.

  KINDERGARTEN

Trip to “EL HUERTO” – Universidad Agraria

Kindergarten children visited “El Huerto” at the Universidad Agraria as part of their Unit of Inquiry about “Taking Care of Plants”.

The children had the chance to demonstrate all the knowledge they had acquired this term about plants: their parts, classification, processes and how to take care of them.

The children were very interested in planting a seed in the ground so they dug a hole and planted the seed and watered it.

Before Leaving "El Huerto" they chose a plant, planted it in a pot and took it home with them. Through this experience, the children were able to understand the importance of caring for plants and their needs.

Unit of Inquiry: “ Caring for plants”

This term Kindergarten pupils participated with enthusiasm in all the activities related to our Unit of Inquiry “Caring for Plants”. They had the hands-on chance to study real plants, flowers and their seeds. They looked at them under a microscope, too. They were able to name the parts of the plant and flower and acquire more information about their use in our everyday lives. They also learnt the process of a plant's growth by observing the cultivation of their own plants and identifying their needs. They really enjoyed this unit!
